The advanced French language diploma (DALF) is a diploma issued by the French Ministry of National Education. It certifies skills in French as a foreign language. The DALF is made up of 2 independent diplomas corresponding to the advanced levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: DALF C1 and DALF C2.
The DALF exams consist of several tests to assess the following skills: oral comprehension, written comprehension, written production and oral production.
All the tests were designed in the action perspective as defined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, where users of a language are considered as social actors having to accomplish tasks (which are not only linguistic) in given circumstances and in a given environment, within a particular field of action, personal, public, educational or professional.
Mastery of the language translates into a degree of precision, adequacy and fluency in expression. The C2 candidate is able to perform academic or advanced level tasks.
