On 15 June 2026, Alliance Française Port Harcourt, in collaboration with Art In The Garden City, will host a special event to mark World Ocean & Environment Day 2026, an afternoon dedicated to reflection, learning, and concrete action for our planet.
The event opens at 2:00 PM with a screening of OCEAN, the acclaimed 2025 documentary. The film takes viewers on a breathtaking journey through the world’s most spectacular underwater habitats, from vibrant coral reefs to sweeping kelp forests, while confronting the threats these ecosystems face today. Above all, it carries a message of hope: with the right choices, marine life can recover on an extraordinary scale.
The screening is free and open to all, and we are especially pleased to welcome students and teachers from partner schools across the Garden City. For many of the young people attending, the film will be a powerful first encounter with the fragile beauty of the ocean and the urgent need to protect it.
True to the spirit of World Environment Day, the screening will be followed by a tree-planting session, a hands-on gesture that turns reflection into action. Together, students, teachers, and partners will plant trees on our grounds: a small but meaningful contribution to a greener Planet and a living reminder of the responsibility we all share toward the environment.
This event is made possible thanks to our partners, whom we warmly thank:
