The Fête de la Musique 2024 in Port Harcourt, held on June 21, 2024, was a resounding success, attracting an enthusiastic audience. The initial objectives of promoting emerging artists and music producers from Port Harcourt and reaffirming the Alliance Française as a center for creative and musical expression were achieved.

Six semi-professional or professional bands, totaling 13 artists, seized the opportunity to perform at a professional event. They were able to share their talent with a broader audience, make valuable connections with other music industry professionals in Port Harcourt, and open doors for the potential development of their artistic practices.

The performances of the bands were diverse, reflecting the richness and diversity of the local music scene.

Overall, this edition of the Fête de la Musique was a success. It not only provided a platform for emerging artists to gain recognition but also reaffirmed the role of the Alliance Française as a cultural center for creativity and the promotion of local talents in the Port Harcourt community.

The line-up

The participating Port Harcourt-based artists were:

  1. Mr. Robinson: RnB
  2. Arité: Afro-fusion (a combination of Afro and any other genre, including Soul, Jazz, Pop, R&B, Country, etc.)
  3. Eru: Soul & RnB
  4. Orayon the starr: Afrofusion & Afrobeats
  5. David Kae: Alternative genre (a mixture of genres like Pop, RnB & Afrobeats)

The musician from Abuja was:

The Abuja-based group was made possible by the support of the Institut Français Nigeria, and the entire event was sponsored by the French Embassy in Nigeria.
