Alliance Française Port Harcourt is set to host an exciting and memorable event in celebration of the International Dance Day. This event promises to be a night of fun, culture, and entertainment for all attendees.

The International Dance Day is celebrated annually on April, and Alliance Française Port Harcourt has put together a special evening event for the occasion. This year’s event will be held on Friday, April 28th, 2023, at the Alliance Française Port Harcourt.

Film screening

The event will kick off with a film screening of the French documentary “Indes Galantes // Gallant Indies” at 5:30 pm. This movie features 30 dancers from non-traditional genres who remixed Jean-Philippe Rameau’s baroque masterpiece Les Indes galantes. The movie is suitable for all members of the family and has English subtitles, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the show. This film screening is a great way to get warmed up for the dance show that will follow later in the evening.

DANCE SHOW

At 7 pm, the Dance Day Show will commence, featuring performances from two professional dancers and one emerging dancer. Attendees will be treated to a showcase of cultural, traditional, and contemporary dance styles, giving them a glimpse of different dance genres and cultures from around the world. The performances will be free of charge, making it accessible to all.

One of the featured artists at the event is Jennifer Nnenna Kabonye-Ani, a professional dancer and dance trainer based in Port Harcourt. With over 10 years of experience in choreography, Jennifer is known for her expert presentation of cultural and traditional dance patterns, which always leave her audience wanting more. She is also highly skilled in Latin and contemporary dance and is the artistic director of Blueprint Music and Dance Academy in Port Harcourt. Jennifer’s passion and dedication to the art of dance has led her to pursue a research project on dance composition, and one of her original compositions will be featured in her performance at the event.

Profit Lucky

The other artist performing at the event is Profit Lucky, a freelance dancer who expresses himself through the art of dance. He is a contemporary dancer who can perform ballet, Salsa, and hip-hop dances. He has worked with notable choreographers such as Valerie Miquel, Colette Eloi, and Eric Scott Underwood.
