As part of its commitment to supporting initiatives that foster literacy and cultural awareness, the Alliance Française Port Harcourt partnered with More Life Poetry to host the first day of a three-day Poetry Festival in Port Harcourt on November 3rd, 2023.
The event featured a variety of activities designed to both educate and entertain the audience. Renowned poets Sir Grrraciano and Tamara Dogubo led a workshop on “The Rudiments of Poetry,” engaging over 30 students from 10 secondary schools in Port Harcourt.
The festival’s tempo was elevated by mesmerizing poetic renditions from several acclaimed poets, leaving the audience in awe and eager for more. The evening culminated in a panel session featuring five of Port Harcourt’s most celebrated poets and novelists—Uzo Nwamara, Emmanuel Ephraim, Kudo Erasia-Eke, Sage Hassan, and Onesi Dominic—who expertly discussed the festival’s theme, “Paving the Way,” much to the audience’s admiration.
Alliance Française is delighted to have been part of this inaugural edition and eagerly anticipates the next.
